I Should Be Free To Have Sex Now!

I had a conversation with someone recently and the person was sharing with me how hard it is in our days to live holy and not fall into sexual immorality. Social media is jam-packed with all sort of nasty and mind polluting posts. Technology hasn’t really helped much either because without video calls and phone calls there won’t be video and phone sex. The struggle is real, living right isn’t easy.

One might say it must have been easier in our parent’s days when all they had to do was write love letters which took days to weeks till delivery and reply or when they had to stand in long queues at the phone boot to make those calls that couldn’t have been anything close to long because of others waiting to use the phone. True as that might be, the fact that things are different now isn’t a liberty to sin. Instead we should understand that when sin abounds, grace abounds much more Rom 5:20. THINGS MAY BE HARDER NOW BUT GOD’S GRACE IS MUCH MORE AVAILABLE.

Don’t make the mistake of thinking that because our parents didn’t have these many distractions, you are now permitted to have sex outside marriage or that God will not hold it against you when you sin. Don’t think He will say “let’s pardon him; after all, things are now hard these days”. NO!!! His standard of holiness which He laid many years ago is still His standard now.

‘Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever more’ Heb 13:8

Nevertheless the solid foundation of the Lord stands sure, having this seal, “let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity”’ 2 Tim 2:19

Plus come to think of it, who said it wasn’t hard to live holy in our parents’ days? They also struggled with lust, pornography, masturbation and so on. Trust me, the same God that kept them in those days is willing and able to keep you and I now.

There are however people who in time past might have crossed the line either intentionally or accidentally. The good news is that God is not condemning you. He is willing to give you a fresh start only if you surrender to Him and ask him for mercy. Heb 4; 15-16 and 1 John 1:9

Remember you are the light of the world, don’t use “the world is dark” as an excuse to be dim rather let it be the reason you shine for God. Cheers
